Who we are

AskMessy (askmessy.com) is a one-shot estimate tool for contractors and similar trades. It turns messy customer messages into draft estimate PDFs you can edit and send. This policy explains what we collect and why, in plain UK-friendly language.

What we collect

• Quote text you paste — emails, texts, notes, or other inquiry wording you enter so we can draft an estimate.
• Shop details you enter — for example business name, trade, rate-card style pricing, and optional credentials you choose to type in.
• Cookies / session id — a browser session identifier so we can keep your draft, unlock state, and any one-shot credits attached to this browser until you use them or they expire.
• Payment information — card payments are handled by Stripe. We do not store your full card number on our servers. Stripe may process name, email, and payment details under its own privacy policy.
• Technical basics — standard hosting logs (for example IP address, browser type, and request timing) may be collected by our host for security and reliability.

How we use it

• To generate and show your draft estimate and PDF unlock flow.
• To remember credits and unlock status on your browser session.
• To process one-shot purchases ($29 / packs) via Stripe.
• To keep the service working, secure, and debuggable.

AskMessy is an estimate tool, not legal advice, not a contract generator, and not a substitute for your own judgment before you send anything to a customer.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Netlify. Content and session data needed to run the app may be processed on Netlify's infrastructure (including serverless functions and blob storage where configured).

How long we keep quote data

We retain quote blobs on a best-effort basis so we can deliver your draft and PDF unlock. If a fixed expiry is not configured, we keep them long enough to provide that service until they are deleted, overwritten, or otherwise cleared by normal storage limits. We do not promise indefinite archives — download and save PDFs you need to keep.

We do not sell personal data

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with processors who help us run the product (for example Netlify for hosting and Stripe for payments), only as needed to provide the service.

Your choices

• Don't paste data you are not allowed to use.
• Clear site data / cookies in your browser to drop the local session id and related unlock state on that device.
• Contact us if you need help with a quote unlock or payment question (see below).
